Routine Prevention

“Putting off dental treatment until you feel pain doesn’t just affect the health of your mouth but your overall health and wellbeing.”

At Brush 32 our routine prevention appointments are the building blocks for success when it comes to preventing oral disease and maintaining optimal oral health. It’s well documented that early detection of disease allows for appropriate and timely intervention.

You can expect these appointments to take at least an hour to ensure we can provide the most comprehensive and informative dental experience.

Oral assessment and oral cancer screening

We will also run through your eating habits, lifestyle choices, current home oral hygiene regime and treatment goals.

If it’s the first time you're seeing us or if your goals have changed since your last routine prevention appointment, our dental hygienist will collaborate with you to identify your individualised treatment needs.

Here at Brush 32 we are passionate about early detection and early intervention, after all prevention is always better than a cure.

During your routine prevention appointments you can expect a comprehensive dental hygiene assessment. This includes taking medical and dental history, a check of your head and neck, screen for oral cancer and a comprehensive hard and soft tissue assessment.

Knowledge is more than equivalent to force

Some easy steps you can implement today, to improve your oral health:

  • Replace your toothbrush every t2-3 months

  • Brush twice daily with a soft bristle toothbrush with a small head

  • Visit your dentist and dental hygienist regularly for check-ups and preventative care and maintenance appointments

  • Clean between your teeth daily with floss, interdental brushes or a water flosser

  • Eat a healthy balanced diet and limit added sugar intake

Digital Radiographs

Digital radiographs (Digital X-rays) are used to better understand your oral health needs and these maybe required during a visit with us.

Assisting our team to identify and monitor conditions such as early decay between teeth, bone loss and calcified deposits under the gum line which are usually not visible directly in the mouth.

Digital X-ray equipment can emit up to 90% less radiation` than traditional methods”

Clean and polish

Critical in preventing, identifying and managing gum disease, routine cleaning and polishing can reduce bacterial load in the mouth.

Our dental hygienist will give your teeth a thorough scale and clean to remove plaque and calculus build up. Removing this build up can reduce your risk of oral chronic inflammation and gum disease.

Early intervention can prevent and even reverse initial early stages of gum disease.

Nasty stains on your teeth? No problem, a gentle polish is also completed to remove superficial stains from the enamel surface, which can be caused by habits such as smoking, regular tea and coffee intake, red wine drinking and consumption of pigmented foods.

Early decay reversal

When detected in its earliest stage, tooth decay can often be halted or even reversed with the use of tailored therapeutic agents, improve daily plaque control and modifying dietary habits with compliance being the key.

Demineralisation and initial stages of early tooth decay doesn’t always mean a trip to the dentist for a filling!

Just another great reason to take a proactive approach to your oral health!
